Just over two weeks until we are off on our next sailing trip. We are helping to crew a 55ft Discovery yacht owned by our good friends Stuart and Pat Smith from the Galapagos Islands to French Polynesia. Stuart and Pat are currently undertaking a circumnavigation and this leg of 3000+ miles is one of the longer passages.
Organising flights to Galapagos and then a return from French Polynesia has been far from straight forward with seven legs so after a couple of days of trying to co-ordinate flights on different airlines Kaye finally gave up and contacted Round The World Experts to organise the itinerary. To date this has proved a godsend as we seem to get flight time and destination alterations which makes it difficult to try to arrange layover accommodation. So with all the vaccinations up to date we are now working out how to get the kitchen sink in our backpacks.
After arriving in San Cristobal we will have ten days to explore the Galapagos in the footsteps of Charles Darwin and if we can, fit it in a bike ride !!
We will begin the passage on 2nd March, it is expected to take about 21 days, hopefully landfall should be Atuona on Hiva Oa if we get the navigation right. We will then have seven days cruising the French Polynesian Islands before our return.
